Welcome to the Oregon Street Food Association or otherwise known as ORSFA. In October, 2011, a group of food cart and truck owners in Portland met at the Multnomah County Library to discuss the formation of this association. From that initial meeting we gathered concerns and notes and passion and thus here we are.
After that initial meeting, we gathered a smaller group to discuss the name, logo, mission statement and items like that. We’re in the forming stages, so bear with us as we navigate creating a group that is all inclusive and advocates for street food.
Those cart owners involved include Addy Bittner of Addy’s Sandwich Bar, Ali Akseki of Ali Baba’s, James King of The Frying Scotsman, Charlene Wesler of The Gaufre Gourmet, Gregg Abbot of Whiffies Fried Pies, Ed Sablan of PDX671 and me, Brett Burmeister of Food Carts Portland. As you can see, a wide range of individuals who want to see this created.
We know others want to be involved so we are scheduling another general meeting in November. We are securing a spot and the date and will announce that soon. In the meantime, we want to connect with you, the cart, truck and street vendors, so we can send out updates and information about the association. Please email info@orsfa.org with your name, vendor info and contact information.
We look forward to building a strong organization that advocates for street food vendors.
